Feel the Magic

8 October 2006 02:22

What would you do to attract the love of your life? Well, in this game you will become a member of the elite Rub Rabbits Club and compete in a series of mini-games that will blow your mind and ultimately win the heart of your goddess. Can you Feel the Magic?

I can't remember the last time I played such a unique game. Just when I thought I could not experience a new type of stylus mini-game, Feel the Magic proved me wrong. Have you ever pumped goldfish out of a human stomach before? Neither had I before this game came along. Feel the Magic takes the mini-game and throws it into a whole new level of interactivity. Firstly, they take advantage of both screens AND the microphone! Secondly, you can actually record your voice and integrate it into the background music! This game is quite innovative, but it has come to be expected from such a fine company like Sega. Once you finished the game, you unlock Hard Mode which allows you to play everything again at a more challenging pace.

Once that is completed, you can move on to maniac mode which is not a mode of play but rather, a chance to play dress-up with your female flame. One addition to the game that I really enjoyed is that you can unlock new games by loading up other GBA cartridges. You can also unlock content by finding bunny heads interspersed in the game. I hope Feel the Magic comes out with a sequel because I finished this one way too quickly. Was it because I played endlessly and just couldn't get more or was it because the game is a little bit too short? I blame both to be fair. Sega, grace me with another…please.

In terms of replay factor, I think it's quite good considering the advanced options that arise once the game is completed a first time. All of the unlocked items that are thrown your way as your progress also add to the replay factor.

Feel the Magic features some pretty upbeat tunes and tracks. It's the kind of music that's fast and engaging. It will have you wanting to crush the game inside out. You'll have trouble putting down your DS.

The graphics in this game are unique. They have a cell-shaded retro look to them. Again, this game is quite unique you thus far, you will not find another game as ‘out there' as this one.

The game play is engaging, varied and fun. Every time you play, you will experience something new and unlock a new game. Don't give up!

Think you're a stylus master? This game's got a lot of tricks up its sleeve so before you self-proclaim yourself king of the stick, try to finish this bad boy in Hard Mode and then we'll talk.

Game play: 8.0
Graphics: 8.0
Sound: 8.0
Longevity: 8.0

The Good: Prepare yourself for a unique experience unseen on the DS system.

The Bad: It's a little bit short, but still very engaging.
