fUnc sUrface 1030
Precision Mousing Surface
I've reviewed the Ratpadz
and Everglide Giganta
precision mousing surfaces a while back. The Ratpad is manufactured by Kyle
Bennet of HardOCP fame. These pads both
feature hard plastic construction and a large size and were a definate improvement
over a normal mouse pad. Recently Everglide sent me the fUnc sUrface 1030
pad and I have to say that it is quite a departure from the two pads I reviewed
previously.

First
Impressions
The first thing that struck me
about this pad was that Everglide is selling them. That's competition for
their own products. Got to hand it to them - if they think they've found a
better product their going to carry it.
The unit shipped to me came with
the orange rubber base pictured to the right. If the color is a little much
for you they do have a black rubber based unit. The Ratpad and Giganta are
larger coming in at 11.5" in width - 1.5" wider, and are taller
by 1" also. I was really beginning to wonder if the smaller pad could
be much competition.
One very cool feature of the
1030 is that it is shipped in a metal tin box. Nice logo stamped on the outside
too. That has nothing to do with the unit's performance - but it sure is a
cool way to make sure the unit gets to the user without being damaged.
