3DMARK 2001 PRO is a synthetic
3D benchmark. As you can see, the RADEON 8500 numbers are very close to nVidia's
GeForce3 Ti500 Board, with some more driver improvements from ATI we might indeed
see ATI's 8500 claim "being a GeForce3 killer" come true.

Quake III Arena is an OpenGL
benchmark. Notice the benchmark numbers, no bottle neck is present from the
CPU or memory so we can see how both the GeForce 3 Ti 500 and RADEON 8500 compare
in real life, the GeForce 3 Ti 500 is leading the way. In higher resolutions
tests, you notice similar results mostly due nVidia's Light speed Memory Architecture.
Summation
The FIC RADEON is in fact an original
ATI RADEON card boxed differently, this technique lets FIC include its own
bundle and/or remove any extras ATI’s original version offers, all in order
to save costs of course. As the benchmarked revealed, the 8500 is indeed a
strong competitor to the GeForce 3, if ATI will continue with their driver
updates as promised by their PR, we might see the 8500 as a clear winner in
the weeks to come. FIC’s RADEON 8500 board is a great solution for people
looking for top-notch graphics without paying for the extras you will never
use.
